Let’s give life to life Startups

The third edition of BioUpper
the innovative acceleration platform for startups
is about to start

Stay tuned!

The success of the first editions

Since its first edition, BioUpper has proven to be able to capture the strong need for support to innovation expressed by young Italian startuppers in the Life Sciences sector. The number of applications was greater than expected, and definitely high was the level of the projects submitted, which BioUpper contributed to further improving: in a short time, a large majority of the finalist teams have become enterprises, and have been able to collect market investments and establish partnerships.

Building on these results, the BioUpper formula was reintroduced in a second edition, which was even more successful than the first among young entrepreneurs, as confirmed by a 30% increase in the applications. The new edition was held for the first time at Cariplo Factory – a reference institution for open innovation – and the final awards ceremony was hosted at the Ministry of Health, thus confirming the growing interest in the initiative by the national institutions and, more generally, by the Italian biomedical research community.

The new announcement for the participation in the third edition of BioUpper will soon be online on this site

Fondazione Cariplo has been doing philanthropic work for over twenty years, with a passion for art, culture, scientific research, social affairs and the environment. Today it is focused on supporting young people, community welfare and the wellbeing of people, implementing projects with non-profit organizations. From 1991 to date, the Foundation supported more than 30,000 initiatives, donating € 2.8 billion. In its 25 years, Cariplo managed to innovate the way of doing philanthropic work, as in the case of social housing or cultural districts. Not just a benefactor, then, but an engine of ideas.

In collaboration with CARIPLO FACTORY

Cariplo Factory (the instrumental company of Cariplo Foundation) was founded in 2016 with the aim of creating in Milan – at the former Ansaldo site – an open innovation hub based on the contamination of skills between SMEs and large companies, innovative startups, incubators and accelerators, universities and research centers, schools and training institutes, fablabs, informal education settings, investors and professionals. Cariplo Factory promotes, develops and implements open innovation projects, innovative corporate-social responsibility programs and initiatives aimed at exploiting young talents, as well as acceleration paths for the growth of startups, through an organic and collaborative approach.
